In the Country Club district the washer usually sits at the bottom of a steep 1920s basement stair next to a floor drain that has been there a century, and the standpipe was never sized for a modern pump. The Southdale and Pamela Park ramblers put the laundry in a half-finished basement with a utility sink that catches the drain hose. In Indian Hills, Rolling Green and the newer places off Cahill Rd the washer is on the second floor in a closet with a drain pan, where a slow leak shows up as a stain on the ceiling below. We come in from I-494 to Hwy 100, or across the Crosstown, and carry parts for all three setups.
Edina is on city wells, and the water leaves the tap hard unless a softener is doing its job. Inside a washer that means scale collecting on the inlet valve screens and slowly narrowing the valve itself, so the machine fills for longer every year until a fill timeout throws a code. When iron rides along, it shows up as orange streaks on white loads and on the inside of the door boot. Add the mechanical failures common to any front-loader after eight or ten years, a drain pump that swallowed a sock, a door lock with a burnt contact, and you have most of the Edina washer calls we run.
The drain pump is blocked, its impeller has broken, or the pump motor has failed. We open the pump trap, fish out whatever it caught, and meter the motor. If the pump itself is done, a replacement is on the truck for most front-loaders and the machine drains before we leave.
On a top-loader it is the lid switch or lock; on a front-loader the door lock, the motor control board or worn shocks that let the drum bang and abort. We test the lock circuit and the tach signal before naming the part, because the symptom alone does not separate them.
We trace the water back: a torn door boot, a cracked drain-pump housing, a loose inlet hose, or suds pushing past the boot because of too much detergent in soft water. Each gets a different fix, and we tell you which one you have after running a fill and drain with the front off.
A failed door lock assembly or a board that lost track of the cycle. We release the door mechanically, recover the load, then test the lock and the board. Locks are a same-visit part; boards are usually a return trip with no second trip fee.
Scale from Edina’s hard water has clogged the inlet screens or the valve. We clean or replace the valve, check the household pressure, and look at whether the softener is actually softening. Samsung 4C, LG IE and Whirlpool F8 codes almost always land here.
Drum bearings or a spider arm, sometimes just a coin trapped between the drums. We spin the drum by hand, listen, and check for play. A bearing job on a front-loader is a big one, and we tell you plainly when the age of the machine argues against it.
We start by asking what the machine did last: filled and quit, drained and stopped, locked, leaked. Then we run it with the lower panel off and watch the pump, the pressure sensor and the lock respond while the meter confirms voltage is reaching each of them. Inlet screens come out and get inspected for scale. Hoses get checked for kinks and the drain height gets measured against what the pump can push, which matters in Country Club basements with an old standpipe. When the failed part is confirmed, you hear it named in plain words and see one price written down before we go any further.

For rental units near 50th & France, the tenant can be home for the visit while the owner approves by text and receives the paperwork by email.
