A kitchen off Glen Lake, a Bosch that has run quietly for nine years, and a homeowner who has already tried three brands of detergent and a rinse aid. The glasses still come out chalky, the bottom rack is wet at the end, and last week the cycle stopped with water in the tub. The technician comes up Hwy 101 from the shop in Eden Prairie, tests the water at the sink before touching the dishwasher, and finds it running well over twenty grains, which means the softener has quietly stopped softening. Then the toe kick comes off and the meter finds a scaled heating element that will not reach temperature. Two problems, both named plainly, one written price.

A drain pump or check valve blocked by food, glass or a plastic lid, a kinked drain hose, or a pump motor that has failed. In remodeled kitchens the hose sometimes lost its high loop when the sink was replaced. We clear the path, test the pump under power, and correct the routing.
Hard water the softener is no longer catching. We test hardness at your tap, check the salt and bypass on the softener, and descale the heating element and spray arms so detergent can dissolve and rinse properly again. A heater that failed under the scale gets replaced.
Spray arm nozzles packed with mineral and food, a circulation pump losing pressure, a stuck diverter or a clogged filter. Orange grit in the sump points to iron getting past the softener. We clean the arms and filter, measure wash pressure, and test the pump before naming the repair.
The door latch switch is not registering closed, the control is locked out, or the flood switch under the tub has tripped from a small leak. We test the latch with the meter, read the stored codes, and dry the base before resetting so the fault does not recur the same evening.
A door gasket hardened by heat and scale, a cracked spray arm hitting the door seam, a weeping pump seal or a loose inlet fitting under the sink. We run the machine with the toe kick off and a light on the base pan and watch for the first drip before replacing anything.
Years of scale have insulated the heating element until it or its relay gave out, or the thermostat has stopped calling for heat. Poor drying shows up before poor cleaning does. We measure element resistance, test the relay on the board, and confirm the water reaches temperature on a test cycle.

Scoop out the standing water so it does not spill when the door opens, and lift the bottom filter to see whether a lid or piece of glass is sitting in the sump. Do not run it again, since a jammed drain pump can burn out its motor. The blockage and the pump both get checked at the visit.
Dishwashers are same-week and often next-day, Monday through Saturday, and Minnetonka is a short run up Hwy 101 or I-494 from the shop. If the machine is leaking onto the floor, say so on the phone; we will fit it into the earliest window and ask you to close the supply valve under the sink meanwhile.
